Webinar: Monitoring our Footprint and Steering Sustainable Growth

WTTC hosted a webinar to share our landmark Environmental and Social Research framework.

Date: 21 February 2024

Time: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM (GMT)

Location: Online

On 21 February 2024, WTTC hosted a webinar to share our landmark Environmental and Social Research framework – developed in partnership with Oxford Economics and sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia. Our model breaks down Travel & Tourism’s footprint across a wide range of indicators across 185 countries and across various income groups. It is also broken down by sub-sector as well as direct and indirect impacts. The ESR even tracks across 15 UN sustainable goals.

The data is available on our ESR microsite and it has informed a variety of informative reports. These can all be found on the WTTC Research Hub

In This Webinar:

  • WTTC highlighted some of the key figures from the data, emphasising that there is an abundance of information and ample opportunity to delve deeper into these findings. The partnerships that WTTC has fostered with Accenture and Puerto Rico have allowed exactly this.
  • Accenture elaborated on the research used in the Water Roadmap and discussed how Travel & Tourism businesses can strengthen their water resilience.
  • Puerto Rico explained how the Sustainability in Numbers report has helped them foster a greater understanding of Travel & Tourism’s impact and how to drive sustainable development on the island.

The session ended with a lively Q&A.
